EU Training Centre has resumed operation on September 1, 2004.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You have completed
(or will shortly complete) your university studies with a Master's
or Diploma degree
(or equivalent) in Biology, medicine, physics, or related fields;
- You are a national of
any country. If you are German you can only apply if you have resided in a
Third country for at least four years of the five years immediately prior
to the (intended) start date;
- You have not have resided
or carried out your main activity
(work, studies, etc) in Germany for more than a total of
12 months in the 3
years immediately prior to the
start date;
- You are in the first
four years of your research activity, including the period of research
training (definition of an early-stage researcher).
The reference period
to qualify for an early stage training activity is counted from the
degree giving access to doctoral studies (diploma, Master). Persons who
have obtained a PhD degree are ineligible for the early stage actions, independently
of the time taken to acquire it.
Applicants are advised to
check their eligibility using
information provided on the web by the EU Commission.
Application Procedure:
In order to apply for a
fellowship the following documents must be submitted (only applications in English
will be accepted):
- A cover letter;
- The completed application
form (download);
- Documents listed in the
appendix of the application form.
- Two Letters of Recommendation
(download) from
Referees who are able to evaluate your academic experience and performance.
Referees should mail the letters directly to the NEUREST office.
Applicants who are not native
speakers of English should demonstrate an adequate competence of the English
language by acceptable results in an internationally recognized test ( e.g.
TOEFL, IELTS, APIEL, CPE). Participation in such a test is recommended but not
mandatory, because language skills can also be evaluated during the personal
interviews with selected candidates. Proven higher education in English or a
reasonably long stay in an English speaking country are acceptable.

Candidate Selection :
A committee will review
all applications received. Students will be selected according to their written
letter of application, grades and the letters of recommendation. Selected candidates
will be invited for a personal interview. Decisions about final admission will
be made shortly after the interview process.
